The faces we carry

The faces we carry

by Muriel Lherm

The Faces We Carry explores identity as something layered, inherited and constantly transformed. Faces emerge from faces, memories from other memories. What appears to be one identity contains traces of others: people we have loved, lost, remembered, imagined and carried with us. The mask becomes less a way of hiding than a threshold. A place where absence and presence coexist, where memory alters the face we present to the world, and where one identity can become many. Created for the Masks: Portals Between Identities open call by .ART and HUG.
