Through Blood, We Rise

Through Blood, We Rise

by Samin

Before she could walk, others had already bled for the road beneath her feet. This work is a reflection on the long and often painful history of women’s struggle — from the shame imposed upon menstruation, to the blood of childbirth, to the violence and sacrifice endured in the fight for dignity, freedom, and equality. The bloodied cloths scattered along the path carry the stories of generations of women: the blood they were taught to hide, the blood they lost, and the blood shed in resistance. At the center stands a child — the next generation — walking a path shaped by those who came before her. Above them, a giant eye watches. It is the gaze of society: judging, controlling, questioning, and defining women through their bodies, choices, and existence. Yet the child keeps walking. Perhaps this is what generations of resistance are meant to create — not a world without scars, but a road where the women who come after us no longer have to bleed simply to be allowed to walk upon it.
