Winter Bokeh
Sometimes you know you have to get out and shoot because the light and conditions beckon you. This day was one of those. Wrapped up from head to toe, because of the cold, I set out. However, it is difficult to photograph with thick gloves. I took these off and on. And tried to keep myself warm enough. In a nature reserve not far from my house there are several fields with thistles. The curly thistle blooms in the Netherlands in July to September with red-purple flower heads, which are alone or up to five together at the top of the stem. In the winter the fruits sometimes get a nice white layer because of the freezing cold. The field is full of them. Photographed against the sun, they give a beautiful Bokeh effect, which is accentuated even better by the trees with some colored leaves behind the field.
