The First Heartbeat

by Jose Antonio Ojeda

“The First Heartbeat” is a copper cutout sculpture inspired by the Aztec goddess Coatlicue, The Mother of the gods and the origin point of creation. Coatlicue evokes both maternal protection and cosmic power: the first heartbeat we ever hear, echoed across generations. To listen to your heart is to listen to the lineage that beats within you.
